The command-line interface (CLI) is alive and well in the world of cloud computing and storage, despite the ubiquity of touch- and gesture-enabled devices in other parts of the IT ecosystem. Cloud hosting provider Linode made that clear this week with the release of a new CLI product as an alternative to graphical cloud administrative tools.
Open Compute Project Summit V Booth B8 — Fusion-io and Hyve Solutions, a division of SYNNEX Corporation, are teaming up at Open Compute Project (OCP) Summit V to enhance the accessibility of open computing with a joint solution that delivers the performance, efficiency and flexibility of hyperscale in existing datacenters. In a dramatic move that illustrates how cloud computing has altered the data center landscape, Microsoft is opening up the server and rack designs that power its vast online platforms and sharing them with the world. Microsoft has joined the Open Compute Project and will be contributing specs and designs for the cloud servers that power Bing, Windows Azure and Office 365. The company will discuss its plans tomorrow in the keynote session of the Open Compute Summit in San Jose.
The US is home to 44% of all malware hosted domestically. A new report from Solutionary shows that it hosts approximately five times more malware than the second-leading malware-hosting nation, Germany, which is responsible for just 9% of the world’s malware. "The information in this report will show our readers how widespread the malware problem truly is and how close it hits to home," said Solutionary SERT director of research, Rob Kraus, in announcing the research.
