Catalogic Software, a developer of innovative data protection solutions, today announced that it has entered into an exclusive distribution agreement with Storware, Inc., a Polish provider of simplified data protection systems for businesses, to offer Storware data protection products in the North American market. In addition, Catalogic is taking an equity stake in Storware.

As part of this announcement, Catalogic is also announcing integration with Catalogic DPX backup software and its recently released vStor software-defined backup repository.

"We are thrilled to be adding the Storware products to our portfolio" said Ken Barth, CEO of Catalogic. "The company’s leading-edge technology will expand our ability to satisfy key customer needs by protecting a wider range of hypervisor platforms, as well as laptops, mobile devices and cloud native SaaS platforms."

The agreement covers two Storware products. KODO is a suite of data protection software for Windows and OS X based systems (desktops and laptops), mobile devices (iOS, Android, Windows Phone) and SaaS platforms (Office 365, Box).

vProtect is an enterprise backup solution for virtual environments and protects virtual machines running on open platforms such as Citrix XenServer, Xen, Nutanix Acropolis, RHEV, oVirt, KVM, KVM for IBMz, Proxmox and Oracle VM.  vProtect can be deployed as a stand-alone solution, and it also has the unique ability to work as a backup staging platform, feeding backup data into IBM Spectrum Protect, Veritas NetBackup and Dell-EMC Networker – as well as feed into Catalogic’s new vStor backup repository.

"Partnering with Catalogic is an excellent way for Storware to expand into the North American market," said Jan Sobieszczański, CEO of Storware. "Catalogic has tremendous technical expertise in data protection as well as robust technology and channel partner networks. It’s a perfect fit."

"Storware solutions will complement Catalogic’s existing data protection offerings, helping the company expand into high-growth hyperconverged and open Hypervisor markets, cloud native apps and endpoints," said George Crump, Lead Analyst and Founder, Storage Switzerland. "It will be interesting to watch Catalogic and Storware’s relationship mature and how that will impact Catalogic’s 2018 data protection roadmap for Docker Containers, Kubernetes and Salesforce."

vProtect and KODO software are both immediately available from Catalogic Software.
