Bitcasa, the company that makes storage simple and secure, was recognized at the 2014-2015 Cloud Awards last night, winning the "Best Infrastructure" category for Bitcasa CloudFS.

With CloudFS, developers, OEMs, and other service providers can leverage Bitcasa’s global cloud infrastructure to rapidly integrate cloud storage into applications and services. Offering a full set of APIs, including pre‐built files and folders along with upload, download, sync, and other media services, CloudFS accelerates application development on public cloud storage…

A recent study showed that developers have been slow to adopt cloud storage as a result of the complexity and effort required to build their own file systems and services on public clouds. The only alternative to date has been 3rd party cloud storage APIs, which require giving up ownership of the UX, users, and their data. Bitcasa CloudFS effectively solves this dilemma for developers, enabling them to quickly integrate cloud storage while maintaining full control of their users and brand.

Since the platform launched in September 2014, more than 15,000 developers have signed up to leverage CloudFS, which includes a free prototyping account with 25GBs of storage and 10,000 API calls a month.

"This is great validation of CloudFS, which was built to streamline application development and make life easier for developers," said Brian Taptich, Chief Executive Officer of Bitcasa. "We are already seeing significant demand, which will only increase as more developers of all sizes — from app development startups to multinational device manufacturers and ISVs realize the benefits of simple and secure access to the public cloud."

With awards for excellence and innovation in cloud computing, the Cloud Awards program accepts entries from across the entire globe, including the US, Canada, Australasia and EMEA. Now in its fourth year, entries are accepted from organizations of any size, and include start-ups and government bodies.
