The power of very big supporters of OpenStack has become more evident in recent weeks. In less than two years, the open source platform OpenStack cloud deployment drew the attention of the biggest players in the industry. Companies such as Rackspace, through its private cloud, already offer free OpenStack distribution. KPMG LLP, a firm whose members think about taxes all day and every day, is concerned that too many companies are overlooking the tax considerations of moving to cloud computing.

This oversight is surfaced in a new survey the advisory firm just conducted among 206 senior corporate tax professionals. While the use of cloud environments continues to be increasingly embraced by companies, 52% of senior U.S. corporate tax professionals surveyed say they are “generally not included in discussions with top management or other groups in their organizations” to discuss the tax implications of cloud initiatives…

Calabasas-based NetSol Technologies has created a new division to tackle the cloud computing market, the firm announced this morning. NetSol said that its new division, NetSolCloudVM, will offer infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) products to the North American market.

The company said that the division will offer clients IT infrastructure on a monthly, tiered subscription. The firm did not detail what kind of infrastructure it will use for the new offering, but did say it looks to provide "private cloud performance at an elastic cloud price". The new division will be headed by Imran Haider.
