When people are infatuated with the latest gadget on the market, they may fail to remember that somewhere beneath the surface someone is working on its next replacement and, unmistakably, with a bulk of more advanced features which one cannot even think of right now. When in 1999, BlackBerry made its breakthrough entry and pushed a new phrase, “mobile cloud”, in the dictionary, people were skeptical about its purpose. They used to carry a huge mobile phone in the pocket just to check inbox and send e-mails from time to time. But now, even college students prefer to buy a cell phone with a push mail feature.
That is how technology teaches us new things, changes our habits and way of living. The cloud is the latest addition to this list of life-changing technologies and, as morning shows the day, current cloud happenings shows a brighter future for all of us…
EMC Corporation has announced EMC Proven Professional training and certifications to help Indian businesses address skill transformation and the looming cloud computing and data science talent gap. EMC will offer cloud computing, data science and Big Data analytics training and certification programs with an "open" curriculum to help develop professionals who can extract more value and insight for competitive advantage from the new expanse of data that businesses create and capture. In addition, the company aims to train over 30,000 engineering students in the first year itself as part of its EAA program.
Dell has announced an expansion of its end-to-end cloud client computing portfolio in Asia-Pacific (APAC). "Dell is pleased to expand our desktop virtualization solutions in the Asia-Pacific region, offering our customers the broadest portfolio of end-to-end cloud client computing solutions. These new solutions enable us to offer our customers and channel partners even more choice in designing, implementing and managing their VDI solutions," said Tarkan Maner, general manager and vice president, Cloud Client Computing at Dell.
Increased teleworking, the adoption of mobility, and cloud computing will reduce the need for companies to have physical office space, according to Intel. Discussing Intel’s Future of Knowledge Work whitepaper, the company’s "chief evangelist and futurist" Steve Brown told journalists in Sydney this morning that over the next 30 years, 75 percent of the world’s population will move into major cities, and this will make commuting to the office more painful for office workers. At the same time, those people will be increasingly working outside the office, and cloud services will reduce the need for them to even be in the office.
Diablo Technologies is an Ottawa-based startup that has brought flash memory even closer to the processor — making applications run even faster. It has built chip technology as well as software and has raised $28 million to bring the technology to market.
America’s largest telco, Verizon, is making a stronger push for corporate customers in the Asia-Pacific region in a move that will see it competing head-to-head with Telstra International.
