Apple Launches iCloud; Cloud Computing Services Open to Apple Product Users

Apple has finally launched the cloud based storage and syncing service, iCloud, for the public.

Users with an Apple ID can access iCloud.com and then sign in to enjoy all its services…

 
After signing in, users can view, add and even change contacts, add events into the calendar and store documents with help from the platform’s iWork apps in the cloud.

Users of iPhone can use iCloud to find the device and also view it on map. The apps also feature the power to remotely lock or wipe the device in case the iPhone has been stolen or misplaced.

Earlier this year, at the Worldwide Developers Conference, plans to launch iCloud were declared by Apple. An the same event, Apple said the iCloud platform will automatically sync all devices like iPhones, iPads, and computers with the user’s music, apps and iBooks.

iCloud offers 5GB free storage can also be used as a backup service.

In an announcement made by Apple last week made it clear that the cloud-based service will be available for users from today.

Even though Apple did not make any comment on its expectations from the service, in June, RBC Capital Markets said they believed almost 150 million users can sign in to use the cloud-based services.
