December 15, 2020Customers of Altaro VM Backup, an award-winning backup solution for virtual environments, can now back up any virtual machines running on Microsoft Azure Stack HCI for free until 30 June 2021. This initiative forms part of Altaro VM Backup’s support for Azure Stack HCI, the new hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) solution, which reached general availability today.
Ability to back up virtual machines running on Azure Stack HCI
Altaro VM Backup is a virtual machine (VM) backup and replication solution for Hyper-V and VMware environments. It provides businesses, organizations, and channel partners with robust, streamlined, enterprise-level functionality coupled with ease of use, speed, affordability and outstanding 24/7 technical support.
It provides seamless support for Azure Stack HCI, allowing users to back up VMs running on this powerful hyperconverged solution with built-in hybrid capabilities, so that organizations needing some workloads to remain on premises can keep those local while enjoying the benefits of the cloud.
Azure Stack HCI consolidates traditional virtual apps that must remain on-premises on industry-standard servers with software-defined compute, storage, and networking and combines it with the power of Azure hybrid services. With it, users can run VMs on-premises and easily connect to Azure for management, monitoring, billing and access to services such as Azure file sync.
Multi-tenant online dashboard for VM backup management and monitoring
Support for Azure Stack HCI also includes Altaro’s purpose-built solution for managed service providers (MSPs), through which they can provide VM and physical Windows server backup and recovery services. Altaro VM Backup for MSPs enables providers of managed IT services to configure, manage and monitor backups and restores via a ground-breaking, multi-tenant console that provides a single-pane-of glass view across all their customers.
Meeting the needs of organizations with hybrid environments
“As virtual backup specialists, we are delighted to be among the first to support Microsoft Azure Stack HCI, because it is optimized to help customers as they increasingly move towards hybrid environments, using a mix of cloud and on-premises components to satisfy their individual needs,” said David Vella, Altaro CEO.
“To encourage Azure Stack HCI uptake, we are giving our customers, partners and MSPs the ability to back up any VMs running on Azure Stack HCI for free until 30 June 2021. That way, they can fully experience Azure Stack HCI’s lean and streamlined operating system coupled with our high-performance backup and replication,” he continued.
Talal Alqinawi, senior director at Microsoft Corp., said, “In the current scenario, where virtualized and hybrid set-ups are increasingly popular, our customers rely on proactive solutions such as Altaro VM Backup to help protect their data. We are pleased that Altaro will continue to make its backup and replication expertise available to help Microsoft customers protect their systems, not only on Microsoft Hyper-V, but also with Microsoft Azure and now Azure Stack HCI.”
