Adaptive Computing (www.adaptivecomputing.com), managers of the world’s largest supercomputing systems and experts in Cloud management solutions (www.adaptivecomputing.com/products/cloud-products/moab-cloud-suite/), today announced the availability of Moab Cloud Suite 7.0 (www.adaptivecomputing.com/products/cloud-products/moab-cloud-suite/whats-new/), its end-to-end integrated intelligent cloud management platform, bringing touchless optimization to private clouds.

Expanding on previous versions of the Moab intelligence engine, Moab Cloud Suite 7.0 adds true end-to-end cloud management. IT buyers can now purchase, from a single source, the tools they need to automate and optimize their private clouds. In addition to its core intelligence engine, Moab Cloud Suite now includes integrated server provisioning, a configuration management database, real-time monitoring tools, and a new REST-based integration framework. This release also brings an enhanced service catalog, new cloud service lifecycle reporting, and an improved self-service portal…

"Our customers have asked for end-to-end management and this release gives it to them." said David Jackson, Founder and CTO, Adaptive Computing. "Moab’s touchless cloud service optimization provides true agility, cost savings and service performance for a broad array of customers."

End-to-End Cloud Management
Moab Cloud Suite 7.0 delivers on the vision of touchless management with an end-to-end integrated platform that also speeds time to value. Moab Cloud Suite now includes a cloud resource monitor, database, and provisioning manager integrated with the Moab intelligence engine for an end-to-end cloud management solution. The solution provides true touchless management and optimization of cloud services from self-service portal request and admin dashboard monitoring through to automated policy-based actions across the service lifecycle. The integration of end-to-end management capabilities, in one flexible product, speeds deployment of an intelligent cloud management solution with benefits, in just a few days not weeks or months. Moab Cloud Suite has a flexible management interface that also allows for integration with existing data center management tools to further enhance value and management automation.

New Service Catalog
Moab Cloud Suite 7.0 includes a new service catalog that simplifies self-service provisioning and increases cloud service reliability. It provides administrators an easy way to specify and present a variety of standardized, proven services users can quickly choose from. Catalog services specify the optimal resource specifications to prevent over- or under-provisioning of resources and service failures while eliminating IT staff deployment burden.
IT-defined catalog selections standardize definitions and ensure the optimal resources are requested to prevent service failure.

Cloud Service Lifecycle Reporting
The Moab Cloud Suite 7.0 cloud service lifecycle reporting enhancements provide enhanced visibility into usage trends and issues via the administrator dashboard. This enables administrators to quickly understand and optimize service and resource performance in the cloud environment. Some of the elements include:

  •     New Services View: Visualizes the status of current services with quick filters by almost any service parameter such as type, image, user, status, size, etc., and one-click drill downs for additional information.
  •     New Requested Actions report: Lets administrators and users track the current actions automated by policies or requested by users.
  •     VM Lifecycle Report: Presents all actions-administrator, user and auto policy initiated-for a given VM from birth to decommission. This helps administrators identify lifespan usage trends, configurations and issues for different services to optimize service catalog definitions, templates, and images.

Self-Service Portal Experience
The self-service portal experience is also significantly enhanced in Moab Cloud Suite 7.0. It is now easier to navigate, make service requests, check service status, and accomplish management tasks. It also provides updated visualization, querying, and filtering of cloud services, simplifying checking service status or removing services. Users can easily query and filter for their running services by almost any service parameter (name, type, image, status, etc.)

Additional Enhancements
Moab Cloud Suite 7.0 also includes the new Moab Web Services integration framework, which provides easier standard integration and customization for cloud environments. It also includes resource manager plug-ins for rich data integration, portal customization, or even script integration. This allows customers to now have a standard interface to Moab with REST APIs. In addition, the Suite contains enhanced showback and chargeback flexibility that enables setup charges in addition to ongoing periodic service use charges. Customers can now easily duplicate custom organizational hierarchies-such as business unit, groups, cost centers, etc., in the Moab Accounting Manager reporting and charging structure.
