To get a glimpse into the future of cloud computing, it’s useful to look for analogies from the past in computing. It has been 30 years since the birth of the IBM PC. Its beginnings were humble and acceptance was slow, but a few years later something very special happened that would make the computer as common as the telephone: the convergence of the introduction of Graphical User Interfaces and Object-Oriented Programming. Until the early 1980s, computers were the domain of technical enthusiasts, with little appeal to the masses. Even the advent of early GUIs didn’t help all that much. Then came OO.
But once these two technologies met, it turned out to be a match made in heaven. OO allowed programmers to eliminate much of the complexity of GUI programming, making it increasingly accessible to programmers to develop ever more powerful applications. That in turn made the PC accessible to the everyday user thanks to memes (desktop, folders, and files) that were easily comprehensible to non-programmers…

In the latest phase of the talent wars, Citrix has partnered with ICT Ireland Skillnet to upskill 15 unemployed graduates in cloud and virtualisation and guarantee them a job. Initiated by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and developed under the Information Technology Standards Committee (ITSC), the MTCS is a Singapore Standard (SS 584:2013) that specifies stringent security and operational requirements for CSPs to encourage adoption of sound risk management and security practices. The certification specifies three tiers of security certification, with level three being the highest. Ribose’s level one MTCS certification was awarded after thorough evaluation by BSI (British Standards Institution), a participating Certification Body for the MTCS standard.
The pace of hybrid cloud computing adoption is accelerating in a “game-on, change or die” scenario that is paying big dividends for the national solution provider, GreenPages Technology Solutions CEO Ron Dupler said Monday. GreenPages’ own cloud computing management as a service platform is set to double through the first quarter of next year as more companies adopt hybrid cloud computing strategies, said Dupler in keynote presentation before 80 customers and 118 top IT executives at the 18th annual GreenPages cloud summit. What’s more, GreenPage is set to end 2014 with a robust 12 percent increase in annual sales to $130 million, Dupler said.
