Microsoft’s Vision of Cloud Security

When it comes to the cloud, transparency and control are the keys to security. That’s the message coming from Scott Charney, Corporate Vice-President of Microsoft’s Trustworthy Computing, during a keynote at the RSA security conference here. "As people move to the cloud, how much transparency do they get into what is going on?" Charney remarked during his keynote.
Charney said that in 2004 Microsoft started to implement its security software development lifecycle. The basic ideas was to have security in design, security by default and security in deployment. Chinese telecommunications equipment maker Huawei Technologies said yesterday that it would launch its public cloud computing services for corporate customers in July, becoming the latest player to enter the fast-growing market in Asia’s largest economy.
Virtualization and storage have always been tightly bound. After all, keeping both in sync is critical for VM and ultimately application performance. Cohesive Networks, a cloud-native security and networking company, today announced the availability of VNS3 through its certification under the CenturyLink Cloud Marketplace Provider Program. This integration allows customers of the CenturyLink Cloud platform to deploy Cohesive Networks’ VNS3 virtual appliance in the CenturyLink Cloud environment to easily scale and manage virtual networks.
Shares of SAP AG (SAP) are up $1.86, or almost 3%, at $74.18, after the company this morning reported Q1 revenue that topped analysts’ expectations but missed on the bottom line, and reiterated its outlook for this year’s growth in cloud computing and software revenue and for operating profit.
