Red Hat, Inc. today announced Red Hat Container-Native Storage 3.6, with support for containerized applications and infrastructure in Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform clusters. Red Hat Container-Native Storage 3.6 comes on the heels of Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 3.6, the latest version of Red Hat’s enterprise-grade Kubernetes container application platform, announced in August.

Red Hat Container-Native Storage, built upon Red Hat Gluster Storage, is integrated with Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform and uniquely serves storage out of containers. Red Hat Gluster Storage is enterprise-grade, durable, more secure and well-suited for the hybrid cloud as it supports both on-premise or public cloud deployments. These attributes make it ideally suited to Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform deployments. RedLock, the Cloud Threat Defense company, today released a new report based on research from its Cloud Security Intelligence (CSI) team – a group of elite security analysts, data scientists and data engineers. The latest "Cloud Security Trends" report spans research from June through September, 2017, providing a comprehensive view into major threats and vulnerabilities in public cloud computing environments despite cloud service providers’ efforts to educate organizations on shared security responsibilities.

Ingram Micro Inc. is helping drive consumer adoption of mobile virtual desktop technology with the launch today of a simplified, point-of-entry Cloud Store for Samsung DeX customers. Ingram Micro Cloud’s solution automates the setup of Amazon WorkSpaces and Microsoft Windows Desktop as a Service (DaaS) for Samsung Galaxy Note8, Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ and Samsung DeX prosumers so they can be up and running with a virtual desktop on their smartphone in just a few easy steps.

The Samsung DeX Station connects the Galaxy Note8 or Galaxy S8/S8+ to any type of FHD display with an HDMI port, as well as a mouse and keyboard, to provide a desktop experience powered by your smartphone. By combining Samsung DeX with Amazon WorkSpaces, users can gain a more powerful desktop experience with the ability to securely access their own Microsoft Windows virtual desktop, files and applications. However, virtual desktop solutions have typically been thought of as only an enterprise or SMB solution due to complex configuration requirements.

FireEye, Inc., the intelligence-led security company, today announced major new software releases and next-generation hardware, adding new and expanded capabilities to extend FireEye’s cybersecurity threat detection while reducing costs and increasing flexibility.

To address the issue of post-breach attacks and insider threats, FireEye unveiled FireEye Network SmartVision – a new capability that leverages a machine-learning framework to detect suspicious lateral threat movements (East-West traffic) and data exfiltration. This capability is designed to provide customers with greater detection and expanded visibility across their perimeter and now network core and servers.

FireEye Network (NX) deployments can now burst network traffic to FireEye’s MVX Smart Grid during periods of high-content scanning activity, to address overload and gaps in protection that might otherwise occur. Other new software capabilities include significant updates to alert handling, event change visualization, expanded logging, and overall usability improvements.

These new software releases complement the launch of fifth-generation FireEye hardware, expanding customer capability to address increasingly sophisticated threats, while reducing costs and increasing deployment flexibility. FireEye also introduced FireEye File Content Security (FX), a new virtual offering that extends FireEye protection further into hybrid IT environments.

Uniserver has deployed Cisco Virtual Topology System (VTS), a standards-based, open software-overlay management and provisioning system that will bring sophisticated network provisioning for virtual and physical infrastructures. This capability has enabled Uniserver to reduce the time to deploy new services with high scalability and flexibility.

Tech Data Corporation today announced that it has added Veeam Cloud Connect for the Enterprise deployed on Microsoft Azure to the StreamOne Cloud Marketplace, the distributor’s platform for end-to-end provisioning and billing of software and cloud services. The offering is available in the U.S. and Europe.

Veeam Cloud Connect for the Enterprise makes it easy for Veeam customers to extend their backup infrastructure to different clouds, and for service providers to offer both Backup-as-a-Service or complete availability solutions. Veeam software allows customers to maintain full control of their data through easily scheduled and managed backups to Azure that apply appropriate archiving and retention policies to meet their specified requirements. Its end-to-end encryption ensures that data is always secure, at source and in transit.

Tripwire, Inc. announced that Tripwire Cloud Management Assessor, an extension of its flagship Tripwire Enterprise solution, now supports Microsoft Azure. Announced earlier this year, with initial focus on supporting Amazon Web Services (AWS) environments, Cloud Management Assessor helps organizations strengthen their cybersecurity and maintain compliance, and it now allows users to scan and assess the configuration states of their Azure environments.
