Datadog announced comprehensive end-to-end monitoring for AWS Lambda functions. This capability is made possible by the release of a new integration with AWS X-Ray, which traces serverless calls while they run on AWS-operated infrastructure. Traces from AWS X-Ray, as well as metrics and logs data from Lambda functions, are available in a new serverless-centric user interface called Datadog Cloud Functions. Both of these new features are available for public beta.

While serverless functions can simplify development and scaling in certain areas of an application, they have also introduced significant complexity in performance monitoring. AWS Lambda runs on AWS-operated infrastructure where traditional instrumentation methods cannot be deployed. Without insight into this infrastructure, DevOps teams face blind spots where performance issues can occur for applications that rely on AWS Lambda.

Thanks to the new Altaro Office 365 Backup for MSPs, being launched today, Managed Service Providers (MSPs) can now provide their customers with backup and recovery services for Office 365 Exchange mailboxes, by automatically backing them up to Altaro’s Microsoft Azure infrastructure. With this latest offering, Altaro extends its B2B data protection solutions beyond virtual machine (VM) backup for which it is already widely known and praised, counting more than 8,000 partners and MSPs worldwide.

Fugue announced the release of Fugue Risk Manager. A new Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution, Fugue Risk Manager is designed to make it easier for enterprises to identify compliance issues in their cloud environments and prevent them from reoccurring.

Fugue Risk Manager inspects cloud infrastructure environments and identifies resource configuration issues for common compliance regimes, including AWS CIS Benchmarks, NIST 800-53 Rev. 4, GDPR, HIPAA, and custom controls specified by the customer. Once violations are corrected and a known-good baseline is established, Fugue Risk Manager can automatically identify configuration drift and revert it back to the established baseline as soon as it occurs.

With the widespread adoption of Microsoft Office 365, OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox Enterprise, etc., Windows user profiles are now more bloated than ever before. In virtual workspace environments this can be a big challenge because if your users don’t have very fast access to their large user profile, user experience suffers greatly. Some type of profile containers/disks are now available from most desktop virtualization vendors. Profile disks, offloading the user’s profile to a virtual disk hosted on an SMB or in the cloud, is the very baseline type of profile that you must have to have a profile persist in virtual non-persistent desktop environments.
