Despite widespread adoption of cloud-based solutions by most industries, the healthcare industry has been slow to embrace cloud computing. While this slow adoption is partially due to concerns about safeguarding confidential patient information and compliance with key regulations such as HIPAA, many healthcare IT departments are simply burdened with outdated legacy systems and feel overwhelmed with the prospect of supporting yet another standard or protocol.

If these obstacles can be overcome, cloud computing solutions can bring tremendous benefits to healthcare organizations as well as help them improve patient care and reduce overall healthcare costs.

CA Technologies’ recent cloud assault has given way to a host of new products aimed at service providers and enterprise cloud users, many taking pieces from the multiple cloud-focused acquisitions CA has made in the past two years.

CA’s massive cloud push was kicked into high gear Wednesday with the launch of 10 new and enhanced cloud-specific products, and a new partner program for service providers to get them fully immersed in the cloud game.

The launch of the Dell OpenStack Cloud Solution is being presented as a major play on the road to further advancing the adoption of the OpenStack open source Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) technology.
