Hybrid Cloud
Grazed from Aporeto
Aporeto today announced the launch of the first Zero Trust Security solution for the enterprise based on finely-tuned application identity, context and intent. The solution continuously monitors and protects applications, by replacing network security based approaches with a radically simple identity and authorization system. Aporeto's security is decoupled from the infrastructure and network; the solution transparently binds to applications to provide them with identity and protect them according to their context and operations intent using end-to-end cryptographic techniques. This approach is underpinned by the "zero trust" principle that assumes that any part of the infrastructure can be compromised at any given time. In contrast, the common approaches of security products are to provide static, infrastructure-dependent protection that must constantly be reconfigured to address application needs. Enterprise Cloud Data Management leader, Informatica, is using Aporeto as the company continues to deliver and grow its portfolio of data management solutions as cloud services.

Grazed from Cavirin Systems
Cavirin Systems, Inc. offers continuous security assessment and remediation for hybrid clouds, containers, and data centers, via the most comprehensive curated library of industry guidelines, control frameworks, and best practices. Cavirin today announced support for the NIST Cybersecurity Framework on its Hybrid Cloud Security Platform. The Framework outlines the best risk management practices and principles that organizations should apply to improve the security and resilience of their critical infrastructures. It helps organizations avoid the failures in processes and policies that are the source of many of today's breaches. To create this guidance, the NIST Framework leverages current standards and guidelines, such as ISO, COBIT, CIS, and other NIST documents. Cavirin unifies and automates continuous cybersecurity risk management for hybrid infrastructures prevalent in the enterprise. Cavirin's customers can select the NIST Cybersecurity Framework as one of the Platform's many control frameworks for assessing their infrastructure against the framework requirements, prioritizing and remediating any open issues found, thereby enhancing their security and risk posture. Cavirin's security team has analyzed this draft NIST document and translated the guidance into a set of technical controls that help organizations automatically align to the document's recommendations. A detailed description of Cavirin's NIST support is available on the NIST Industry Resources page. Cavirin's NIST Framework primer is here.

HC3 Cloud Unity allows an organization's apps to use resources in the cloud and on-prem at the same time, and enables apps solely created for on-prem to now run on Google Cloud Platform. "One of the biggest barriers to cloud adoption for IT organizations is the inability to move applications to and from the cloud," said Jeff Ready, CEO and co-founder of Scale Computing. "With HC3 Cloud Unity, Google and Scale have laid a massive two-way speedway across the HC3 clusters on-premises and HC3 on Google Cloud Platform. This network means organizations no longer have to use or create different apps for the cloud, they can utilize their apps created for on-prem to run in the Google Cloud, which will be a game changer of end users, channel partners and MSPs globally."

Grazed from Nutanix
In the multi-cloud era, data and applications are dispersed not just across enterprise private and public clouds, but also distributed remote office/branch office (ROBO) and disaster recovery (DR) environments, as well as edge computing use cases. Today's enterprises want to build these diverse deployment options into their end-to-end cloud designs, without disjointed IT operations or lock-in to any one virtualization or cloud stack. A single software OS brings a new approach to unifying these multiple clouds - across the full compute, storage and network stack - which dramatically simplifies operations with common IT tooling, enabling application mobility across clouds, while remaining open to any hardware, hypervisor, or cloud.

Grazed from Silicon. Author: Sam Pudwell.
A hybrid world “Cloud is a way of doing stuff, it’s something you do not something you buy,” he explained. “Every single company will have a compelling event which forces a change of something.” He cited Jaguar Land Rover as an example, a Dell EMC customer that is currently focusing on updating its legacy data centre infrastructure in order to keep pace with a rapidly changing industry environment. This poses some interesting questions for CIOs... Read more from the source @ http://www.silicon.co.uk/cloud/virtustream-hybrid-cloud-215785?inf_by=595261ac681db80f048b4767
