Driving Distracted in the Cloud(s)

By David

Article Written by Avery Phillips

Modern technology has crept into our lives and become essential in so many ways. We are able to reach our children whenever we need to, can take quality photos at the click of a button, navigate to and from various destinations in an unfamiliar place, and text our friends about lunch plans all on one device. What’s not to love?

Although there are certainly oodles of benefits associated with our smart devices, we humans seem to have a difficult time discerning when these benefits are best put to use – especially when it comes to our devices and driving. Sure, smartphone apps including navigation features have revolutionized the ways in which we are able to get around in a new or unfamiliar area, and apps designed to help us find carpooling and/or taxi services have made our short commutes distinctively easier. But at what cost?

Driving distractions associated with smart devices are skyrocketing, begging the question, why are we paying more attention to our devices than our fellow humans? Can technological advances, namely the development of driverless cars, help us kick back our distracted driving problems?

What Companies are Doing to Keep Their Data Safe

By David

Article Written by Avery Phillips

A strong lock on the door used to be adequate to keep a company’s records safe. Not anymore! Now, with so much information being kept on computers, mobile devices and stored in the cloud, the job of keeping data safe in a corporate environment is more complicated than ever.

Cyberattacks are on the news frequently, and hackers are a real threat to every company with online access. You have a responsibility to your customers to keep their data safe, but you also store sensitive information about your employees. That too is in danger of being stolen and used for identity theft or worse.

As a corporate executive, it is your job to put into place all the security measures necessary to keep the company data safe. Some of the policies may not be popular with employees, but it will help to keep you and them safe from thieves and cybercriminals.

Exabeam and SentinelOne Partner to Detect and Stop Advanced Threats

By David
Exabeam and SentinelOne today announced a strategic partnership and the integration of the Exabeam Security Management Platform and SentinelOne automous endpoint protection console. Customers will be able to rapidly detect and automatically respond to threats across all endpoints with the new joint solution.

Joint customers will be able to ingest threat and incident data directly from SentinelOne into the Exabeam Security Management Platform to baseline normal behavior. Through this, customers can combine that data with data from other IT and security solutions to provide security analysts with greater visibility against advanced attacks.

Additionally, Exabeam can trigger automated incident response for compromised endpoints using the Sentinel One API. By gathering all related events into Exabeam Smart Timelines, analysts can automatically reconstruct the events underlying security incidents. The Exabeam Security Management Platform automatically identifies risky, anomalous device activity that may be indicative of a security incident or compromise. Customers can then automatically respond to the incident directly from the Exabeam UI: changing user passwords, sending email verifications, restarting and scanning hosts, getting device and/or user information, and enabling or disabling two-factor authentication. They can also generate and list reports, list processes, get files and list applications on a host.

By David

Award winning innovator Kove IO, Inc. filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS). The lawsuit challenges foundational aspects of AWS’s cloud-based products and services, including how data is efficiently and scalably stored and retrieved.

The patents asserted by Kove cover technology that enables the modern cloud. Kove’s inventors developed and patented technology that allowed hyperscalable distributed "cloud" storage years before the advent of the cloud. The MIT Technology Review described distributed storage technology based on hash tables as a top 10 emerging technology that will change the world. This was five years after the first of Kove’s patent applications covering this very technology.
