Resource Management Global Symposium Tackles Issues that Challenge Common IT Initiatives

Every year, roughly a third of all IT projects fail because of inadequate resource management as IT professionals struggle to meet budgets, timelines and quality standards. The Resource Management Institute (RMI) will tackle this issue during its first Resource Management Global Symposium Oct. 3rd – 4th at the Dallas Hilton Anatole hotel in Dallas, Texas. 

The two-day Symposium will bring together resource management experts from around the globe to share resource execution tips and best practices that will help IT professionals identify and apply the right skills, in the right place, at the right time for project-based work in enterprise/IT services.

 

The Symposium’s dedicated enterprise/IT sessions include: 

  • The art and science of capacity planning
  • Optimizing PPM/RPM solutions for resource management
  • Justifying Resource Management Office (RMO) investments
  • Case study presentation by a large company that recently implemented an RMO

Other symposium sessions will cover forecasting, addressing the industry shift to Agile methods, and many other topics to help organizations learn how to tackle the toughest resource management issues.

RMI Managing Director Randy Mysliviec will kick off the symposium with the first keynote on the "State of Resource Management." Mysliviec is the author and innovator of the Just-in-Time Resourcing brand of human capital management solutions. He is also the president and CEO of RTM Consulting, which specializes in global resource management, project and portfolio management and services business optimization.

"Based on a recent RMI survey of enterprise/IT organizations, we found 81 percent of organizations struggle to forecast capacity and skills mix needs while more than 70 percent are challenged to govern their resource management processes and manage their inventory of skilled workers," Mysliviec said. "The Resource Management Global Symposium will help IT professionals address the fundamental gaps in areas like forecasting, skills management, governance and technology to deliver IT solutions on-time and cost effectively with consistency."
