International Data Corporation (IDC) has launched an end-to-end research solution that provides customers with a complete understanding of the buyers and consumers of cloud products and services across the entire cloud ecosystem.

Extending beyond how the enterprise is sourcing the cloud, this research delves into developer and service provider trends through large sample sizes that go deep in areas including customer preferences in software as a service (SaaS), infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), and managed cloud services.

"In our recent ‘whole cloud’ opportunity forecast, IDC estimated that worldwide whole cloud revenues will reach $554 billion in 2021, more than double that of 2016," said Crawford Del Prete, executive vice president, Worldwide Research Products & Chief Research Officer at IDC. "80% of cloud budgets are above infrastructure. Our new cloud offerings provide actionable advice for technology suppliers and service providers who want to capitalize on all aspects of the accelerating cloud opportunity."

This body of research from IDC will survey thousands of cloud customers, developers, and cloud suppliers on a quarterly and annual basis, digging deep into enterprise IT buying behaviors, vendor assessments, and technology adoption.

IDC’s Cloud BuyerViews will examine how enterprises are integrating cloud services as part of their IT delivery across SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, and managed cloud including adoption, workloads, vendors, and organizational impacts.

IDC’s Service Provider Pulse will provide quarterly insights into the requirements of cloud service providers via a global proprietary panel that spans the entire ecosystem of tens of thousands of providers. This research hones in on evolving business models, emerging product and service offerings, and providers’ own investments in technology.
