Cradlepoint has announced that it has deployed its cloud-managed mobile network solutions in over 1,000 local, state and federal public safety and first responder organizations across the United States.

Cradlepoint has public safety and first responder deployments in every U.S. state, including 25 of the largest cities, providing mission-critical data networks for vehicles, mobile command centers, surveillance cameras, and incident response teams, as well as connectivity for in-vehicle, on-scene and body-worn devices.

The city of Richmond, Va. is one of the first city governments to roll out new mobile capabilities from FirstNet, a nationwide high-speed public safety network for first responders. Utilizing Cradlepoint’s mobile network solutions within their vehicles, Richmond’s team of emergency first responders now have access and capacity over wireless connections, and the tools to send information between mobile applications designed for mission-critical operations.

"We have experienced first-hand FirstNet’s priority and preemption with solid network coverage throughout the city," said Jackie Crotts, deputy director of technology, Richmond FirstNet department of emergency communications. "Using Cradlepoint’s routers, which are carrier agnostic, made it so easy to switch from our previous carrier and turn our mobile command center into a FirstNet point of access, handling day-to-day operations emergencies, large scale events and everything in between. Keeping public safety at the forefront of technology is our number one goal. Thanks to FirstNet and Cradlepoint the transition was very smooth. We now have over 170 devices – first responder vehicles and cell phones – running on the network. Should a disaster occur I know we have the right solutions managing our communications networks."

Cradlepoint’s mobile networking solutions are delivered as a cloud service. Each solution is designed for the performance and reliability requirements of FirstNet, and includes a purpose-built router with integrated GPS, NetCloud routing and FIPS-compliant security software, and 24×7 customer support. They can also be field-upgraded to support Band 14 modems in the future. Cradlepoint enables public safety and first responder organizations to deploy new capabilities to the field quickly, centrally manage their fleets and mobile networks, and keep their officers, field teams, and critical devices always connected and secure-reducing costs and IT resources.

The police department in Greensboro, N.C., is another example of how Cradlepoint is underpinning FirstNet programs.

"Through BJA Grant funding we are pleased to be adding AXON Fleet cameras to our existing AXON Body2 cameras. Along with AXON Fleet, the BJA Grant funding is allowing us to incorporate the Cradlepoint LTE routers into our camera program," said Sgt. Justin R. Flynt with the professional standards division of the Greensboro Police Department. "Currently we are using multiple LTE carriers, including AT&T FirstNet while we test and evaluate the promising benefits of uploading camera recordings at the scene of an incident.  We have high expectations that these additional cameras, along with the wireless capability provided by the Cradlepoint’s mobile routers will assist our agency as we strive to address our community’s needs and GPD’s crime solving endeavors in this new technical era of policing."

"The momentum we are building in the first responder market, illustrates Cradlepoint’s keen focus on utilizing our mobile networking expertise and purpose-built solutions to help public safety organizations keep their people, places and things always connected and protected. Working with our broad set of solutions partners who have a primary practice and focus on first responders, we are ensuring the reliability and security for some of the most critical emergency communication systems and networks in the world," said Robert Auci, Cradlepoint’s vice president, global channel marketing.
