Aerohive Networks, a Cloud Networking Leader, today announced an expansion to its SD-LAN capabilities with the ability to extend the corporate user experience to small branch and remote locations using the radically simplified HiveManager NG cloud networking platform and the addition of a network-function-virtualized (NFV) appliance.

Aerohive’s virtual private network solution provides connectivity for remote workers and offices by securely extending the corporate network to remote locations with the ease of unified cloud management and plug-and-play configuration. The solution also assures business continuity in the event of an unplanned outage or natural disaster, allowing organizations to provide a consistent mobility experience even in temporary locations.

While any Aerohive access point can operate as a tunnel terminator for the Aerohive VPN solution, Aerohive has also enhanced its portfolio with the Virtual Gateway Appliance (VG-VA). As a cloud-managed NFV, the VG-VA provides flexible and scalable VPN connectivity for over a thousand IPsec tunnels and can be installed in any VMware-virtualized environment.

The VG-VA, which is now supported in HiveManager NG, also provides additional functions on top of extending VPN capabilities, including centralizing authentication and GRE tunneling support to offer additional scalability in an extensible form factor. Remote VPN capabilities will be available in HiveManager NG at the end of October.
