Accedian vCPE Solution Wins NFV Pioneer Award

April 14, 2015 Off By David
Accedian Networks announced today that its virtualized customer premises equipment (vCPE) solution, SkyLIGHT VCX, was honored with a 2015 INTERNET TELEPHONY NFV Pioneer Award from global integrated media company TMC.

SkyLIGHT VCX, the industry’s first performance assurance controller employing Network Function Virtualization (NFV) to bring advanced monitoring capabilities network-wide, without the need for expensive, high-end test equipment. By eliminating key cost, scalability, and coverage barriers to network performance visibility, service providers can now more cost-effectively ensure a better quality of experience (QoE) for users.

"We are honored to receive an INTERNET TELEPHONY NFV Pioneer Award, recognizing the effort and innovation put into our NFV-powered vCPE solution," said Patrick Ostiguy, President & CEO of Accedian Networks. "The VCX is a radically more efficient approach to network performance monitoring, combining all the benefits of virtualization without compromising test speed or precision."

"Congratulations to Accedian Networks for receiving a 2015 INTERNET TELEPHONY NFV Pioneer Award," said Rich Tehrani, CEO, TMC. "Accedian’s SkyLIGHT VCX has demonstrated true innovation and is leading the way for Network Function Virtualization. I look forward to continued excellence from Accedian in 2015 and beyond."

The VCX Controller works together with Accedian’s Nano smart SFP (optical transponder) and compact gigabit Ethernet modules to deliver multi-flow traffic generation and ability to monitor the performance of thousands of flows. The modules are easy to install and cost up to 90% less than existing solutions, enabling service providers to realize the significant capital and operational efficiencies promised by an NFV architecture, while their customers benefit from a fully assured network.

The VCX Controller combines centralized control with distributed test traffic generation to offer

full mesh and segmented testing that would be otherwise impossible due to cost, deployment effort, and feature shortcomings. The VCX Controller solves the challenges inherent with legacy solutions, which act only as simple test reflectors and lack the ability to initiate and generate test sessions.

The INTERNET TELEPHONY NFV Pioneer Award honors products that have demonstrated innovation, unique features, and noteworthy developments toward improving Network Function Virtualization. Winners of the NFV Pioneer Award will be published in the April 2015 issue of INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine.
