UTSA is part of $6.6 million grant to build advanced computing systems

The National Science Foundation is funding a partnership between the University of Texas at San Antonio and other universities that will work with open cloud technology to develop advanced computing systems for scientists and engineers. The participating universities, along with other scientific institutions, will share $6.6 million grant money.

UTSA’s Cloud and Big Data Laboratory will participate in the project known as Jetstream — which will be based at Indiana University’s Pervasive Technology Institute and the University of Texas at Austin’s Texas Advanced Computing Center…


The researchers will be tasked with creating virtual machines with advanced computing capabilities on a remote resource, similar to what is found on a laboratory workstation or home computer…
