The British Government’s first Director of Transparency, Andrew Stott, will give the Guest Keynote  presentation on ‘Economic Growth and Better Public Services through Big and Open Data’ at Dubai’s  GCC BIG DATA & ANALYTICS  SUMMIT  in March 2015.

Mr Stott will be the first in a series of specialist presenters looking at the role of Big Data in building smart nations and smart cities across the GCC region.  Other speakers from the public sector will include senior representatives of Etisalat, ADWEA, ADNOC, Daman Health Insurance, Injazat Data Systems, Emirates Group and Etihad Airways…

Dr Saeed K Al Dhaheri, Former Adviser on Information Systems to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and a member of the Honorary Advisory Board for the Summit, commented:  “We are delighted to welcome Andrew Stott as a speaker at the GCC BIG DATA SUMMIT.  Mr Stott will have many interesting things to tell us about Open Data use in government and its relationship with Big Data.”

Andrew Stott echoed Dr Al-Dhaheri’s remarks from London:  “This Summit focuses on what key decision-makers need to know – and how they need to act to create new national value from their data.

He added: “Government and businesses are facing a deluge of data. Yet with the right skills and tools, and the right policies and national information infrastructure, leading countries are starting to generate astonishing economic growth and public service innovation.”

The GCC BIG DATA & ANALYTICS SUMMIT will highlight the potential benefits of Big Data for the region’s public sector between March 8-10, 2015 at Dubai’s Address Marina Hotel.

Middle Eastern Governments are currently pioneering the use of business intelligence and technology to better serve citizens – none more so than authorities across the UAE. The years 2015 – 2017 will see major decisions made on investments in Big Data concepts throughout public and private sector GCC organisations, according to members of the Summit’s Advisory Board.

The Summit will focus on the extensive big data innovations now making an impact on Middle Eastern government agencies, transport authorities, banks, telcos, oil & gas producers, industries and retailers – plus large to small enterprises from all over the region.

It will bring together regional and international experts who will analyse how big data is predicting and delivering better services  – while improving quality, productivity, benefits and speed of decision making to the community.

Given the potential rewards in terms of efficiency and/or monetization, participants will include major international suppliers of software and hardware – as well as multinationals who are already putting Big Data to work for their GCC clients.
