Infor Ramps Up Cloud CRM with Saleslogix Purchase

Aiming to boost its CRM Relevant Products/Services offerings, business Relevant Products/Services application software and cloud Relevant Products/Services services provider Infor has agreed to acquire the Saleslogix cloud-based CRM application from Swiftpage.

Saleslogix CRM, which will become Infor CRM, will add sales and service functionality to the Infor CloudSuite, its industry-specific software that's available on Amazon Web Services. Swiftpage expects the transaction to close in the coming weeks. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed...

Cloud Computing: Microsoft preps Office 365 document management tool for lawyers

Microsoft has developed a document management add-on for Office 365 intended for lawyers, signaling a possible interest by the company in creating vertical-industry tools for the suite. Microsoft announced the product, called Matter Center for Office 365, Monday, saying it's in limited preview and available via a beta program to which customers can apply.

The company provided few details about how the product works and what features it has, focusing instead on the fact that it is closely integrated with Office 365. Customers will be able to use Matter Center from within the suite's interface and components, like the Word and Excel apps, the SharePoint Online collaboration server and the OneDrive for Business cloud storage service...

Spanning Cloud Apps wants to help Salesforce.com (CRM) administrators with protecting Salesforce1 customers from data loss. The Austin, Texas-based software-as-a-service (SaaS) backup company on Wednesday unveiled Spanning Backup for Salesforce1 Mobile, a new mobile app for Salesforce administrators looking to manage and monitor automated backups and restore activities within the Salesforce platform.

The company said the new product offering allows Salesforce administrators to monitor the statuses of backups; track activities; and receive proactive udates for backup and recovery activities. Open source cloud computing is on the rise, and one vendor is hoping to take things to the next level. Odoo, formerly OpenERP, recently went through a change of name, and the company has also raised $10 million in funding to push its open source cloud marketing, but it also plans to soon release version 8 of its suite of cloud-based business services.

A media alert noted that the company has made "gentle waves" in the open source software world, but it is hoping to make a bigger splash this year. Sprint to resell Google Apps for Business cloud service

Sprint on Wednesday announced a partnership with Google to offer the Google Apps for Business cloud service, adding that customers of the service won't be required to use Sprint's wireless network or Android devices. The partnership helps move Sprint well beyond it's role as a basic wireless carrier for businesses to one that will bolster basic Google cloud service and access to Google apps with Sprint's own hands-on professional consulting, much of it free.

The announcement comes amid widespread reports that Sprint is in discussions to buy T-Mobile and just weeks after a six-month study of wireless carrier network performance found Sprint didn't finish first among national carriers in any of 125 U.S. cities.
