Oracle announced details of its Optimized Solution for Enterprise Cloud Infrastructure, a fully integrated, pre-tested solution that helps accelerate enterprise Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) cloud deployments. The solution combines Sun Blade server modules, Oracle Solaris or Oracle Linux, Oracle’s ZFS Storage Appliance and Oracle VM. Oracle Optimized Solution for Enterprise Cloud Infrastructure can be managed and supported as a single system with Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g, according to Marketwire.

Ali Alasti, vice president of hardware development, Oracle, noted:

Oracle is radically simplifying cloud deployment with a pre-tested, single vendor solution for enterprise cloud infrastructure. By engineering our hardware and software together, the Oracle Optimized Solution for Enterprise Cloud Infrastructure cuts deployment time from weeks to hours and helps customers get virtualized infrastructure up and running faster.

Oracle’s announcement comes on the heels of an HP announcement of expansions to its CloudSystem appliance. HP executives were dismissive of Oracle’s announcement, saying it was limited to Oracle’s platforms, ZDNet UK reports.
