Predictive Analytics

Predictive Analytics in the Cloud

Article Written by Avery Phillips

What is happening with your business? What is going to happen with your customers?

We've been able to spidey-sense changes in the marketplace with predictive analytics that have been made available through the computing power of the cloud.

And it's amazing.

With the added capability of pulling in additional computing power seemingly from thin air, cloud computing has allowed us to use algorithms and data in ways we never could before. Now that we are able to make informed decisions with huge data sets and access to information and predictive behavior via cloud computing, the future of business and its interaction with clients will never be the same. "Separately, predictive analytics and cloud solutions are changing the way organizations do business ... Together, they open up a wealth of opportunities."

Here are a few reasons the ability to use predictive analytics, by taking advantage of cloud computing, is vital to your business success.

Cloud Computing and Predictive Analytics: Midsize Concerns

The combination of cloud computing and predictive analytics is helping businesses make better business decisions. However, security concerns remain. A new survey featured in Information Management analyzed the combination of the two technologies and how firms are utilizing them. As midsize firms consider big data in the cloud, security will continue to be the top concern.

Analytic Services

The research by Decision Management Solutions, as reported in Smart Data Collective, referred to three types of cloud-based analytic services: decisions as a service, cloud-based modeling and cloud-based model deployment. According to the findings collected, about two-thirds of firms have already utilized one of the three types of services. The large majority — 90 percent — will deploy another service in the next few years...

Big Data Insights Through Predictive Analytics, Open Standards and Cloud Computing

Grazed from SmartDataCollective. Author: Michael Zeller.

Organizations increasingly recognize the value that predictive analytics and big data offer to their business. The complexity of development, integration, and deployment of predictive solutions, however, is often considered cost-prohibitive for many projects. In light of mature open source solutions, open standards, and SOA principles we propose an agile model development life cycle that quickly leverages predictive analytics in operational environments.

Starting with data analysis and model development, you can effectively use the Predictive Model Markup Language (PMML) standard, to move complex decision models from the scientist's desktop into a scalable production environment hosted in the cloud (Amazon EC2 and IBM SmartCloud Enterprise)...
