Rackspace today announced that the company has achieved seven gold and three silver Microsoft Partner Competencies for capabilities spanning application development, cloud platform support, data management, business applications, mobility and productivity. Microsoft Partner Competencies recognize companies in the Microsoft Partner Network (MPN) for their proven expertise in delivering quality solutions in a specialized area of business.

Cloud Foundry Welcomes SUSE as Platinum Member

Cloud Foundry Foundation, home of the industry-standard platform for cloud applications, today announced that SUSE has increased its engagement and support of Cloud Foundry by becoming a Platinum member. The move comes as SUSE is readying itself to enter the PaaS market with a Cloud Foundry certified product. SUSE CTO Thomas Di Giacomo will also be serving on the Foundation's Board of Directors. SUSE was previously a Silver-level member of the Foundation since 2015, joining Google, EMC, HPE, IBM, Pivotal, SAP, VW, VMware and more than 60 other technology innovators.

Zerto Revamps Partner Program to Address Partner Growth

Disaster recovery solutions provider Zerto announced today that is has made some significant changes and updates to its Zerto Alliance Partner (ZAP) Program. The updates have been put in place to better meet the needs of Zerto's partner network since experiencing extreme growth; from 33 partners in 2012 to more than 1,500 reseller, cloud service provider (CSP) and system integrator partners today. Looking at more recent figures, Zerto has seen 50 percent year-over-year (YoY) growth in its partner network and 112 percent YoY growth in partner certifications. The program refresh, according to Zerto, is based directly on feedback they have received from partners as they've experienced this growth, and focuses on providing extra simplicity, an equal rewards approach regardless of partner type and a unique rewards-based training method Zerto calls "gamification."

Platform9 Launches Channel Partner Program to Meet Growing Demand for Private Clouds

Platform9, the company making private clouds easy, today announced a channel partner program designed for resellers, service providers and systems integrators focused on cloud computing, enabling them to more efficiently design and deploy flexible, enterprise-ready OpenStack private clouds for their customers.

According to Wikibon, true private cloud (on-premise and hosted together) is expected to grow from $7 billion in 2015 to $201 billion in 2026 (36% CAGR) and be 31% of infrastructure spend. At last month's OpenStack Summit, the OpenStack Foundation said half of the Fortune 100 use OpenStack. Wal-Mart, AT&T, SAP and Wells Fargo all spoke about how they're using open source code to build their private clouds.

Cisco Expands Cloud Partner Network with Microsoft Azure Integration

Cisco and Microsoft announced a technology integration effort today that promises to expand the options of Cisco's cloud service provider partners, allowing them to more easily tap Microsoft Azure cloud computing resources.

Cisco currently has more than 60 partners centered on its Intercloud effort, which is based on the OpenStack cloud architecture. This new technology integration effort with Microsoft will expand on Cisco's Intercloud effort by facilitating partner use of Microsoft's proprietary Azure infrastructure...

Microsoft: Cloud-First Partners Continue to Outperform Others

As Microsoft prepares for its upcoming Worldwide Partner Conference (WPC) in July, the company has commissioned a study that shows that partners that have implemented cloud computing into their offering perform better than those who have not. The study, commissioned by Microsoft and conducted by IDC, showed that cloud partners – those with more than 50 percent of their revenue from cloud -- have 1.5 times the gross profit percentage versus other partners.

They also have 1.7 times the gross profit percentage versus the bottom group of partners surveyed. In addition, the top two quartiles of cloud-focused partners also grow considerably faster than the bottom two quartiles, the report showed. Moreover, Microsoft said cloud partners have 1.6 times the recurring revenue as a portion of total revenue versus other partners...

Microsoft Launches Educational Program to Help Partners Bring SMBs to the Cloud

Microsoft is aiming to help its partners draw SMBs into cloud computing with a program called Cloud SureStep. Cloud SureStep is an educational program launched this week to teach SMBs about how cloud computing works and how it can benefit them. The announcement is detailed in a post on Microsoft’s blog on the World Partner Conference 2014 site.

The post claims that the program will teach companies how to use the cloud to lower cost-of-sale, increase sales volume, generate demand with digital marketing, and generate service revenue. “Cloud SureStep is the one-stop resource built within our MPN website to help our partners establish, grow and thrive in the cloud,” Thomas Hansen, VP Small and Medium Business, Worldwide SMS&P, said in the blog post...
