Quest has been helping organizations migrate, manage and protect Microsoft platforms for nearly 20 years and is now extending this expertise to the cloud.

With increasing merger, acquisition and divestiture activity and the ongoing surge in Microsoft Office 365 adoption, more and more companies need help consolidating their Office 365 tenants. Quest On Demand Migration automates complex, repetitive, and error prone steps in the migration process. With On Demand Migration, businesses benefit from a single, intuitive interface to easily manage discovery, assessment and configuration for migration of accounts, email and OneDrive.

New VM Import Tool from CloudShare Makes Migrating to Cloud Easier and Faster Than Ever

Grazed from CloudShare

CloudShare, a leading supplier of specialized cloud-based IT lab environments for software training, sales demos and PoCs (proof of concept), and development and testing, today announced the immediate availability of a new virtual machine (VM) import tool that makes migrating VMware and Oracle VirtualBox VMs to the cloud much easier and faster than before.

Many organizations and cloud services still rely on file transfer protocol (FTP) to migrate VMs to the cloud. These uploads take hours to complete, and the process is not reliable. Errors are common, especially with large files, and there is typically no way to know whether an error has occurred until the lengthy upload process is complete.

CloudShare's new VM Import tool checks for potential errors immediately at the start of the process, enabling the vast majority of errors to be detected within two minutes instead of the hours of waiting that FTP-dependent methods require. Plus, if errors occur, CloudShare provides a unique auto-correct feature that users may accept or override. The entire process runs behind the scenes so users can keep working on other tasks until complete. The end result is a custom CloudShare template that includes initial networking, and which can easily be joined with existing pre-built CloudShare templates to create a complex environment in no time.

BitTitan Launches Migration-as-a-Service to Create New Office 365 Revenue for Partners

Grazed from BitTitan

BitTitan, the leader in cloud services enablement, today introduces Migration-as-a-Service to help IT service providers create new migration revenue streams for Microsoft Office 365. Tens of thousands of Microsoft partners are looking to expand their Office 365 services but are restrained by a lack of time, resources and expertise. BitTitan's latest "as-a-Service" category enables partners to create new offerings and scale their portfolios without investment in costly engineers, project managers or new tools.

"Migration-as-a-Service is like subcontracting, but without the complexity, lack of accountability and uncertainty around pricing," said Jethro Seghers, lead program manager at BitTitan. "Our approach is fully white-labeled using the partner's brand, offers 100 percent predictable pricing and includes advanced troubleshooting by the experts who developed the software in the event of any issues."

Velostrata Announces General Availability for First Software That Moves Business Application Workloads to the Cloud in Minutes

Grazed from Velostrata

Today Velostrata, the cloud workload mobility company, announced general availability (GA) for the industry's first software that removes the barriers to public cloud for business application workloads. Velostrata's unique technology decouples compute from storage -- providing the first software that moves production workloads to the cloud in minutes, without changing the applications and without moving associated storage to the cloud. Prior to the GA announcement, the product was in beta with large and mid-size enterprises who purchased the product after providing exceptional feedback about the agility, cost-saving, risk mitigation, and efficiency benefits of the Velostrata solution.

Despite the promise of public cloud to provide capacity on demand and better business agility, enterprises continue to struggle with complexity, costs, and risk associated with moving stateful business applications like ERP, OLTP or other production workloads with large data sets to the cloud. With Velostrata, customers are able to take advantage of the agility, scalability and cost-efficiency of the cloud, without the baggage of moving terabytes of stored data, while maintaining application performance. Enterprises can now reduce their data center footprint and move business application workloads incrementally, on a temporary or long term basis, without application re-writes and complex conversions.

Decisions, decisions: Choosing a cloud migration tool

Grazed from TechTarget. Author: Kristin Knapp.

Hoping to reap benefits such as greater flexibility, cost-efficiency and scale, organizations of all sizes are migrating applications to the cloud – but many times, they can't go at it alone. Fortunately, there are a range of cloud provider and third-party tools designed to help organizations migrate applications to the cloud, and then manage and optimize those apps post-migration. In some cases, these tools also help organizations track their cloud computing resources, costs and performance.

For many IT pros, cloud migration tools are a saving grace – and it seems more organizations are choosing to adopt them. According to research group IDC, the worldwide cloud systems management software market is expected to exceed $8 billion by 2019. Tools for cloud performance and event management -- including those that provide monitoring and resource optimization capabilities -- represent the fastest-growing segment of that market...

With the number of servers moving into the cloud accelerating rapid solution providers with cloud migration expertise are in high demand. To help automate that process Racemi, a provider of server migration tools, has expanded the number of data centers managed by Amazon Web Services (AWS) and IBM SoftLayer that it supports.

With this latest release of its DynaCenter software Racemi is adding support for eight data centers that are part of the IBM SoftLayer cloud, which in addition to the 12 IBM SoftLayer and the ten AWS data centers it already supports, gives solution providers and their customers a total of 30 data centers to choose from around the globe...

Automating Server Migrations into the Cloud

Grazed from TalkinCloud. Author: Mike Vizard.

The trouble most solution providers have with migrating servers into the cloud is that it’s generally a one-time event that is hard to build an ongoing IT service practice around. Not only does the migration usually require a fair amount of time; each server migration can take weeks to migrate. But once it’s done the solution provider winds up with a lot of expertise in server migration that can only be reapplied only so many times.

For that reason WSM International has made a business out of working with solution providers to automate server migrations as much as possible. As of today, WSM International is now offering those server migration services at a fixed price starting at $849 per Linux or Windows Server...
