Amazon improves performance of CloudFormation management platform

Grazed from ITWorld. Author: Mikael Ricknäs.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has added new features to the company's management platform CloudFormation that aim to improve performance and simplify updates. As companies get more used to running applications in the cloud, they are putting together more complex systems. That in turn puts higher demands on management platforms, which have to allow users to take better advantage of the programmability and scalability of the cloud.

CloudFormation aims to give developers and systems administrators a way to create and manage a collection of related resources, provisioning and updating them in an orderly and predictable fashion. The latest additions to the platform are parallel stack processing and nested stack updates...

Datadog Addresses Top AWS Performance Problems

Grazed from PRWeb. Author: PR Announcement.

Datadog, the SaaS-based monitoring and data analytics platform that provides a unified view of IT infrastructure, released today a troubleshooting guide for developers and system administrators using Amazon Web Services (AWS) Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2). In the new eBook, The Top 5 AWS EC2 Performance Problems, Datadogs technical team details the top five EC2 performance issues and provides instructions on how to detect and remediate these problems.

For many developers and system administrators, AWS' EC2 promises ease of deployment and instant scalability. However, EC2 also introduces significant changes to coding, deployment and application maintenance which makes this infrastructure behave differently from traditional on-premise servers. These differences lead to performance issues such as unpredictable EBS disk I/O, EC2 instance ECU mismatches, and ELB load balancing traffic latency. Applications running on AWS infrastructure that are affected by these issues experience a decrease in performance or downtime...

Paradyne and Exoprise Bring Crowd-Powered Cloud Management to Australia

Grazed from MarketWire. Author: PR Announcement.

Paradyne, a Microsoft Online Services Partner of the Year finalist and leading Cloud Accelerate partner, and Exoprise, a provider of cloud based monitoring and enablement solutions for Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) applications, today announced a value-add, strategic partnership. The agreement brings Exoprise's complementary offerings for Microsoft Office 365 to the Australian market for the first time and accelerates the adoption of cloud office applications. The announcement follows the recent launch of Exoprise's new cloud monitoring solution for Microsoft Office 365.

Office 365 is a subscription-based suite offering online access to the software and services built around the Microsoft Office platform. Unlike on-premise deployments, where IT teams can monitor performance via direct access to the servers running their Office applications, visibility to Office 365 performance is limited to the Microsoft Office 365 Service Status Dashboard. While this dashboard provides current status of Office 365 itself, it cannot provide real-time end-to-end performance data nor can it provide information on the health and availability of the various networks -- the customer's, the ISP's, the regional backbone, etc. connecting the users to the service...

Centrify takes unified identity management into the cloud and out to mobile devices

Grazed from NetworkWorld. Author: Linda Musthaler.

In the 2013 version of the annual Gartner Executive Program survey, more than 2,000 CIOs in 41 countries identified their top 10 technology priorities for the year. The survey showed that analytics and business intelligence ranks No.1, with mobile technologies and cloud computing (SaaS, IaaS, PaaS) coming in at Nos. 2 and 3. CIOs are looking to these digital technologies to help their companies achieve business results.

While the focus of these technologies is on how to use them to boost business, the underlying IT concerns are still there. How will we secure our data on mobile devices and in the cloud? How will we know who is using our resources? How can we manage these diverse technologies effectively and efficiently? They are the same questions companies ask themselves over and over again as they grapple with increasingly complex and disparate infrastructures and a multitude of mobile devices accessing applications on-premise and in the cloud...

Using multi-cloud management software to juggle cloud providers

Grazed from TechTarget. Author: Beth Pariseau.

Enterprises that want a choice between cloud service providers have several multi-cloud management software offerings to choose from, though workload migrations after initial deployments remain rare. Vendors such as RightScale Inc. and CliQr Technologies Inc. offer multi-cloud management software, which gives users the ability to deploy workloads without modification to different clouds, as well as the ability to move workloads between clouds at will.

We don't have to tie up to any particular cloud. We can basically profile to see which one is providing the best performance for the best cost and then we can direct our customers to that. Enterprise IT pros who have put these products into production said that, so far, they have helped them migrate workloads to their choice of cloud service providers...

Giva Launches New Standalone ITIL Cloud Change Management SaaS Software

Grazed from PRWeb.  Author: PR Announcement.

Cloud vendor, Giva, today announced a significant new standalone cloud product release for ITIL change management for Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) compliance for IT service management.

With all of the demands imposed by SOX compliance and other industry specific compliance policies such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), there is a very high demand for IT change management software in the cloud. Giva is the only vendor that provides standalone cloud IT change management software. Many vendors provide IT change management software, but they are highly integrated with IT service desk incident and problem management modules. The problem is that many organizations already have such systems in place and only need the functionality of IT change management. Also, these integrated systems are expensive, difficult to customize and very complex to use...
