VMware Introduces Major Update for Integrated Hybrid Cloud Platform

Grazed from VMware

VMware, Inc. today unveiled VMware Cloud Foundation 2.3, which will be the latest release of its integrated hybrid cloud platform. VMware Cloud Foundation 2.3 introduces integrated cloud management platform (CMP) capabilities that will provide customers with a simplified path to building a hybrid cloud based on consistent infrastructure and operations. The platform will deliver management and provisioning of compute, network, storage and application services at scale across hybrid cloud environments via integrations with VMware vRealize Automation, vRealize Operations and vRealize Log Insight.

In response to the ever-increasing demand for faster innovation, customers are embracing more agile, service-oriented IT models that rely on both private and public clouds. In a 2016 VMware customer survey, 60 percent of enterprise customers polled stated they are using a public cloud. VMware Cloud Foundation delivers to customers a direct path to the hybrid cloud by providing them a common infrastructure that can be deployed on-premises or run as a service from the cloud with a consistent operational experience across clouds.

Morpheus Data Optimizes Multi-Cloud Deployments and Unifies Ops Teams

Grazed from Morpheus Data

Today, Morpheus Data announced a major software release which brings predictive analytics to cloud management and enables end-to-end app lifecycle management in multi-cloud hybrid IT environments.

Research indicates that total enterprise spending on public cloud services is expected to continue to grow at double digits over the coming years. Much of this growth comes from application teams seeking to mirror best-in-class DevOps organizations where time to deploy is measured in minutes. At the same time, enterprise IT teams are signaling adoption of multi-cloud strategies rather than standardizing on a single provider. Unfortunately, fragmented cloud management has done little to speed deployment and rouge development has led to expensive cloud sprawl.

To address these gaps, Morpheus Data has updated its Unified Ops Orchestration platform with machine learning to lower cloud costs and new 3rd party integrations to speed application deployments. Unlike tools which only address part of the issue, only Morpheus provides a systematic solution to optimize resources, enable governance, accelerate workflows, and modernize applications. The solution was architected to be 100% infrastructure agnostic across bare metal, VM, and containerized deployments spanning on-premises, hosted, and public clouds.

RightScale Estimates Companies to Waste More Than $10 Billion in Cloud Spending Over the Next Year

Grazed from RightScale

RightScale Inc., a demonstrated leader in enterprise cloud management, today announced that, if left unchecked, wasted cloud spend over the next year will top $10 billion. For more details, read the companion RightScale blog: Where Is the $10B in Waste in Public Cloud Costs?

"Cloud providers claim they are getting better at helping companies reduce some of their cloud spending. For example, AWS recently claimed it saved AWS users $500 million by alerting customers when they were overpaying," said Kim Weins, VP of Cloud Cost Strategy at RightScale. "Unfortunately, this is just a drop in the bucket. RightScale has seen that companies waste, on average, 35 percent of their cloud spend. This equates to $6.4 billion in annualized wasted cost for AWS alone. For the top three public cloud providers (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform), this represents annualized waste of $10 billion."

SoftwareONE Enhances PyraCloud Platform to Govern and Maximize the Value of a Multi-Cloud Environment

Grazed from SoftwareONE

Today, SoftwareONE announced cloud management enhancements for PyraCloud - its end-to-end platform for managing software portfolios from on-premises to the cloud. The latest enhancements provide insights on cloud consumption based on customer's business context and create a culture of accountability when using public clouds, such as Azure and AWS. It is critical that organizations discover and consistently track budget and spend across cloud providers in order to control costs. PyraCloud will enable organizations to manage cloud costs within budget across business units, cloud providers and applications.

According to IDC, the average business works with 13 different cloud service providers, and Gartner reports that organizations are finding public cloud bills to be two to three times more expensive than expected. PyraCloud's enhanced Cloud Management Module is designed to address this reality. The new capabilities give organizations visibility into the cloud assets being used, and by whom, facilitating better governance, budget management and spend across all cloud providers. With the latest enhancements to the PyraCloud platform, organizations can meet the business requirements of accountability, cost control and chargeback of cloud usage across business units.

The new enhancements to the Cloud Management Module offer four key benefits:
