ClearSky Data Attains Advanced Technology Partner Status in the Amazon Web Services Partner Network

Grazed from ClearSky Data

ClearSky Data, provider of on-demand primary storage with built-in offsite backup and disaster recovery (DR), today announced it has achieved Advanced Technology Partner status in Amazon Web Service (AWS) Partner Network (APN). AWS’ global partner program focuses on helping APN Partners with go-to-market and technical support. ClearSky Data’s expanded relationship with AWS furthers its mission to help more companies get to the cloud quickly, so they can eliminate secondary infrastructure, take advantage of hybrid DR and dramatically reduce costs with consumption-based enterprise storage.

As enterprise IT teams struggle to consolidate multiple infrastructure silos and free themselves from painful upgrade cycles, the case for cloud migration is escalating. At the same time, these organizations are tasked with multiple data management challenges, from backing up archival information assets to rapidly ingesting massive amounts of machine data at the edge. ClearSky Data provides a storage-as-a-service solution integrated with AWS, enabling enterprises to access all of this data wherever it’s needed – on-premises or in the cloud – without replication.

Amazon Web Services Launches New Region in France

Grazed from Amazon AWS

Today, Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS), an Amazon.com company (NASDAQ:AMZN), announced the launch of the AWS EU (Paris) Region. With this launch, AWS now provides 49 Availability Zones across 18 technology infrastructure regions globally with another 12 Availability Zones and four regions in Bahrain, Hong Kong SAR, Sweden, and a second AWS GovCloud Region in the US expected to come online by early 2019. The AWS EU (Paris) Region is AWS’s fourth in Europe, joining existing regions in Germany, Ireland, and the UK. Tens of thousands of French customers already use AWS in other regions, and starting today, developers, startups, and enterprises, as well as government, education, and non-profit organizations, can leverage AWS to run applications and store data in France by going to: https://aws.amazon.com/fr/paris/

The AWS EU (Paris) Region offers three Availability Zones. AWS Regions are comprised of Availability Zones, which refer to technology infrastructure in separate and distinct geographic locations with enough distance to significantly reduce the risk of a single event impacting availability, yet near enough for business continuity applications that require rapid failover. Each Availability Zone has independent power, cooling, physical security, and is connected via redundant, ultra-low-latency networks. AWS customers focused on high availability can design their applications to run in multiple Availability Zones to achieve even greater fault tolerance. Additionally, the new AWS EU (Paris) Region gives customers with data sovereignty requirements the ability to store their data in France with the assurance that their content will not move unless they move it. The new Region adds to the existing infrastructure AWS already has in France, which includes three Edge Network Locations in Paris and one in Marseille, for customers looking to deliver websites, applications, and content to end users with low latency. These are part of AWS’s existing network of 107 Points of Presence (96 Edge Locations and 11 Regional Edge Caches) globally.

Druva Reveals 2017 AWS Cloud Data Protection Survey

Grazed from Druva

Druva, the global leader in cloud data protection and management, today announced the results of its Druva 2017 AWS Cloud Data Protection Survey, which reveals a disconnect between the perceptions of cloud data protection and its reality. The survey solicited insights from IT professionals across 20 industries, including technology, energy, financial and healthcare, regarding the state of Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud adoption, enterprise secondary storage, data protection and archiving needs.

According to results, one of the biggest benefits seen from those who have already moved their data to the cloud is cost savings (59 percent); yet 49 percent of respondents who are considering a move cite cost as the number one barrier. This paradox is indicative of a larger misconception about the capabilities of cloud technology. Despite rising confidence in durability and availability of company data in AWS, concerns remain around storage and usage costs.
