Gamechanger: How the Cloud Has Altered Manufacturing Maintenance Forever

Article Written by Avery Phillips

Every year, companies rely more heavily on machines and technology to get work done. Basic machines are getting more advanced, and cloud services, IoT functionality, as well as data collection are increasing the efficiency of workplaces.

But as we rely more heavily on advanced machines and the data they generate to complete everyday activities, we open ourselves up to risk when those machines fail. An efficient maintenance schedule has always been a necessity for any business, especially warehouses, construction companies, and the like. But you'd be hard-pressed to find a workplace that doesn't rely on the efficient operation of machines or computers.

That's where the cloud comes in, especially in the manufacturing sector, for keeping up with the added complexity of maintenance scheduling.

How Cloud Technology Tackles Online Shopping Fraud

Article Written by Sally Perkins

Online transactions are increasingly being targeted by fraudsters, with a February 2017 report showing online card fraud rising 40% since 2015. Amongst many of the technologies seeking to combat this, is cloud security innovations. With the versatility and ever-evolving nature of the cloud, a few great ways to combat online fraud have been thrown out.

What form does this technology take? Big technology players have long sought to make their cloud tech creditor compatible to allow for the widest range of transactions, but that's the baseline.

AI Enabled Cloud Storage

In basic terms, the cloud is simply the functions of a computer spread out into the ether of the internet. On its own, it doesn't entail great security detail. Companies the world over have innovated to meet this demand, and it has had an impact on their consumers. One of the latest iterations of this technology is the integration of AI into cloud services, which is protecting the data of customers - so they don't have to. With many consumers enjoying relaxed lending regulations and looking to obtain a credit card, data is being uploaded onto the cloud in large amounts. Amazon, for example, employ AI to intuitively search and protect customer data against online fraudsters within their cloud services.

Top Five Cloud Services Predictions 2018

Grazed from Nuvias

Karl Roe, VP Services & Cloud Solutions at Nuvias, takes a look at what’s in store for organisations using the cloud in 2018

1. The Rise of AI

2018 will see Artificial Intelligence (AI) drive a transformational change among organisations and impact on cloud use.

ICT isn’t getting any simpler, and businesses are being forced to move faster as their customers’ requirements become more demanding. This is driving innovation in areas like AI, but automation of past processes won’t be enough to keep up with the “need for speed” in business agility.

We will see lots more AI projects and initiatives in 2018; it will be the cornerstone of change in automation of ICT. Proactive, automated, non-human decisions are now a necessity. Are the robots coming? Yes, they are – but we still need to develop the Intellectual Property (IP) to drive them.

5 Ways Cloud Computing Is Serving Small Businesses

The cloud is redefining the way many companies do business, no matter their size or sector. Migrating online comes with many obvious benefits, including cost savings, mobile working, and accessibility. However, many small business owners are reluctant to take the plunge due to concerns about security or a reluctance to join the digital workforce.

According to recent statistics, 37 percent of U.S. small businesses have fully adapted to cloud computing, and this percentage is set to double to 80 percent by 2020. Suffice to say, the cloud has transformed the way that modern entrepreneurs do business, but there are still many misconceptions about cloud computing that are causing some businesses to steer clear. To help you realize the benefits, here are five ways that cloud computing is serving small businesses around the world.

The Cloud Negates Storage Costs

ClearSky Data Attains Advanced Technology Partner Status in the Amazon Web Services Partner Network

Grazed from ClearSky Data

ClearSky Data, provider of on-demand primary storage with built-in offsite backup and disaster recovery (DR), today announced it has achieved Advanced Technology Partner status in Amazon Web Service (AWS) Partner Network (APN). AWS’ global partner program focuses on helping APN Partners with go-to-market and technical support. ClearSky Data’s expanded relationship with AWS furthers its mission to help more companies get to the cloud quickly, so they can eliminate secondary infrastructure, take advantage of hybrid DR and dramatically reduce costs with consumption-based enterprise storage.

As enterprise IT teams struggle to consolidate multiple infrastructure silos and free themselves from painful upgrade cycles, the case for cloud migration is escalating. At the same time, these organizations are tasked with multiple data management challenges, from backing up archival information assets to rapidly ingesting massive amounts of machine data at the edge. ClearSky Data provides a storage-as-a-service solution integrated with AWS, enabling enterprises to access all of this data wherever it’s needed – on-premises or in the cloud – without replication.
