Aparna Systems Emerges from Stealth Mode to Announce the Industry's First Open Software "Cloud-in-a-Box" Solution

Grazed from Aparna Systems

Aparna Systems today announced the Orca µCloud and Orca µServer-the industry's first open software Cloud-in-a-Box solution to converge compute, storage and networking resources in a compact, energy-efficient system. In addition to offering industry-leading high density and scalability, with support for up to 10,000 cores per rack, the µCloud systems deliver the high performance and high availability needed in distributed, edge, aggregation and core environments. The system-level architecture provides an optimal configuration without the need for "rack and stack" engineering, while the use of merchant silicon and open software enables the Cloud-in-a-Box to be used in bare metal, containerized and virtualized applications. Aparna Systems will unveil and demonstrate the Orca µCloud and Orca µServer this week in Booth 41 at NFV World Congress May 3 - 5 at the San Jose Double Tree Hilton.

"Aparna's Cloud-in-a-Box has the potential to be a real game-changer in a variety of applications," according to Michael Howard, senior research director and advisor for Carrier Networks at IHS Markit. "This is particularly true at the edge of the network, including in central offices, where carriers have struggled to find a practical and affordable way to deploy adequate compute and storage resources. The system's high density and design innovations combine to also drastically improve scalability and energy efficiency compared to blade servers."

How Cloud Computing Is Shaping the Business World

Grazed from TGDaily. Author: Lexie Lu.

Cloud computing is defined as using remote servers to store your data outside of a local physical hard drive. You’re basically storing all of your information in a digital “cloud” that can be accessed by you from anywhere in the world, as long as you have a computer and a decent internet connection. How has cloud computing already changed the way we store data — and how is it continuing to shape the business world?

1. Increased Flexibility

Traditional data storage techniques are rigid and require constant hardware updates to keep up with a growing or changing business. If you utilize in-house servers, a bandwidth or storage upgrade requires a large-scale overhaul which could potentially take your entire system offline while it’s being completed...

IndependenceIT Receives Patent for Provisioning Virtual Resources in a Mixed-Use Server Environment

Grazed from IndependenceIT

IndependenceIT, the company that unifies cloud, application and data management for IT administrators, today announced that it has recently received an Issue Notification from the United States Patent and Trademark Office, indicating the patent for the "Provisioning of a Virtual Resource in a Mixed-Use Server" has been approved as United States Patent No. 9,612,861. The technology provides IT administrators with the ability to unify control and coordination of data center assets for greater IT flexibility and bottom line savings.

With an increasingly complex array of choices confronting IT solution providers searching for a simple and easy method of managing the transition of on-premises computing solutions, including applications, data, and workspaces to the cloud, IndependenceIT has developed a simple and easy method of managing this activity. The ability to provision virtual resources in a mixed-use server environment allows IndependenceIT partners to simultaneously and easily work with multiple vendors across cloud infrastructure solutions without having to focus training time or rely exclusively on any one vendor.

Working in the Cloud Makes Life Easy – But Coding Makes It Easier Yet

Of late, all we hear about are the many benefits of working in the cloud. We hear that it is cost effective, time efficient, transparent and so many other terms that describe what the cloud is and how we can benefit from cloud computing. All of it true.

However, what we don't often hear about is the fact that with the advent of PaaS (Platform as a Service) and the integration of other applications into your core platform, there are bound to be some inconsistencies and minor glitches that need to be ironed out before they become major. Working in the cloud has indeed made life easier for the busy professional and businesses all around the globe, but if you know a bit of code, it makes it even easier yet.

From PaaS to iPaaS

Businesses today are really beginning to understand the many benefits of a cloud based ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) platform through which they route most of their business applications. From accessibility to functionality, transparency and beyond, there is nothing like having one central platform that can be accessed, as needed, by everyone in the front and back end of a business.

5 Reasons to Consider Cloud Hosting for Your Next Website

Cloud hosting is an innovative form of hosting that is taking the internet world by storm.  The servers used in cloud hosting can be scaled up on demand, making it very easy for websites to take advantage of additional server space as they grow.  Cloud websites also tend to be fast to load because of the way they are hosted.  If you have been looking into the hosting options for your next website, take a look at the below reasons why cloud hosting is a good choice.

1. It's Affordable

When cloud hosting first appeared, it was an expensive solution.  However, like most things that get popular, the price has decreased making it affordable for most business owners.  Cloud hosting is now similar in price to traditional shared hosting, but offers many more benefits.  So, whether you are hosting a large business forum, or a casino affiliate WordPress theme, it should be within your budget.

Making sense of all the cloud-as-a-service models

Grazed from InformationManagement. Author: Christian Riley.

In case you haven’t heard, the cloud is like pizza. You can have pizza four different ways - at home, via take and bake, delivery, or dining out at a restaurant. Similarly, there are three different services models when it comes to cloud computing - IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS – and three different cloud types – public cloud, private cloud, and hybrid cloud.

With each different kind of pizza experience, the diner handles a certain fraction of the process, and a third party handles a certain fraction of the process. Going along with this comparison, the same can be said for the various combinations of service models and cloud types listed above. (Below is an image that makes a bit more sense of this)...
