Employees Are One of the Biggest Cyberthreats to Businesses in North America

Grazed from Kaspersky Lab

Kaspersky Lab today released a report, Business Perception of IT Security: In the Face of an Inevitable Compromise, revealing the current state of security threats among businesses and how their perception of threats compares to the reality of cybersecurity incidents experienced over the past year, both in North America and worldwide. A top concern of North American businesses and a leading cause of successful cyberattacks in these organizations are also the most important asset: their employees.

The findings are a subset of data from the 2016 Kaspersky Lab Corporate IT Security Risks survey, which confirms cyberattacks are not uncommon to businesses throughout the world. In just the last 12 months on a global scale, 43 percent of businesses experienced data loss as a result of a breach. When taking a closer look at businesses in North America, the data reveals that these organizations are significantly less protected against attacks compare to businesses worldwide. For enterprises, nearly half (44 percent) in North America suffered four or more data breaches in the past 12 months alone, which is double the amount that businesses worldwide suffered (20 percent).

Microsoft Not Giving Up Against Amazon - The War Rages On

Grazed from Seeking Alpha

Goldman Sachs recently upgraded Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) to buy from neutral, and raised price target to $68 from $60. Goldman Sachs believes that Microsoft's gross profit will grow at an accelerating pace and gross profit margin will improve due to Azure's cloud opportunities.

Since profitability is a matter of managerial accounting and difficult to predict, I'm not sure about profitability. However, I believe Microsoft's revenue will rise significantly going forward since the company is offering customers the world's most sophisticated, advanced and diversified container support via its recent launch of Windows Server 2016. Containers also will help Microsoft win the war against Amazon's (NASDAQ:AMZN) AWS despite the latter's recent deal with VMware (NYSE:VMW).

Mirantis moves out of OpenStack BS-as-a-Service market

Grazed from CIO. Author: Swapnil Bhartiya

A wise person once said: The only thing that is constant is change. Open source cloud solutions like OpenStack are challenging companies to come up with new business models to innovate. It was high time for pure play OpenStack company Mirantis to make the right move in the right direction, at the right time.

In September, Mirantis announced that they acquired TCP Cloud, a company that specializes in managed services for OpenStack. The news stirred the beehive as Mirantis was stepping on some partner toes and it was also moving away from the ‘pure play OpenStack company’ model.
